Windows Media Player Icon Help with Media Player Mary Mannino is a 20-year-old from Joliet who does not have health insurance. She recently graduated from cosmetology school and is working part-time at a small salon that offers health insurance but she cannot afford it. This has forced Mary to forgo routine medical care and run the risk of a serious illness.

"I recently went to the Will County Health Department for a dental check-up, which I have not had in almost two years. I just don't go to the doctor for the small things like colds. I don't know what I would do if I became seriously injured and sick beyond a cold," she said.

Mary is currently searching for a job with a chain salon or department store so she can have access to more affordable benefits. Unfortunately, with the high cost of health insurance available to her, she will have to remain uninsured until then.
