| Jo Alice and Dennis are school bus drivers and are struggling with the high cost of their health insurance. They are only offered a Health Reimbursement Account by their employer, which they didn’t feel was sufficient for their health needs, so they purchased coverage on the private market.
Jo Alice and Dennis have two separate plans and they pay a combined total of $865/month with an annual deductible of $2,500 each. Dennis does not have prescription drug coverage as part of his plan and has to pay for all of his drugs out of pocket.
"It's ironic that as middle income folks, we are paying the most for health insurance and it’s getting hard to make ends meet. We are willing to pay reasonable costs for health insurance, but over $10,000 each year for the two of us is just way too much," Jo Alice said. |
